Electrical Safety Awareness for Children, Schools and Communities
At Radha Devi Welfare Foundation (RDWF), we believe that every child deserves a safe environment to learn, play and grow. Through educational programs, awareness campaigns and interactive learning experiences, we help children understand the importance of electrical safety in everyday life.
The foundation works to protect lives through electrical safety initiatives, community awareness and youth education.
Why Should Children Learn Electrical Safety?
Every day, children interact with switches, chargers, electrical appliances and outdoor power systems. Teaching electrical safety at an early age helps children:
Stay Away from Damaged Wires
Broken or bare wires are never safe to touch — report them to an adult.
Never Touch Sockets
Fingers and objects never belong inside a socket or switchboard.
Keep Electricity Away from Water
Wet hands, spills and appliances are a dangerous combination.
Ask Adults for Help
When something sparks, smells or feels wrong, call a grown-up first.
Electrical Safety & Children in India
Every year, thousands of electrical accidents occur across India. Children are especially vulnerable because of curiosity, lack of awareness and unsafe surroundings.
National Statistics
12,529+
Lives lost in India due to electrocution in 2021
1,13,000+
Electrocution deaths recorded between 2011 and 2021
Children at Risk
Although India does not publish separate national statistics for children, international studies show that children under 15 years are among the most vulnerable groups. Most childhood electrical injuries happen inside homes.
- Touching exposed wires
- Playing near transformers and electric poles
- Inserting objects into sockets
- Using electrical devices with wet hands
- Flying kites near power lines
Research-Based Estimate
According to international pediatric injury studies, around 15–25% of electrical injuries involve children and teenagers. Most injuries are preventable through awareness and safety education.
